If you haven’t already heard, there’s a new water park in town – Typhoon Texas! In its second year, Typhoon Texas has become a hot spot to cool off in the summertime. Rivaling Schlitterbahn and Wet ‘n’ Wild, Typhoon Texas can be your next water slide destination for thrills. Located just down the road from the intersection of Grand Parkway and I-10 and adjacent to Katy Mills Mall, Typhoon Texas features tons of heart-pounding waterslides, a lazy river, and a 375,000 gallon wave pool.

What you’ll need to know for a perfect day of splashing fun at Typhoon Texas:

• Arrive early to beat the crowds or come late to save money. The park opens at 10:30am daily beginning June 3 and is open weekend nights until 10pm. An admission discount is offered each day for those arriving after 5pm, but you cannot purchase these tickets in advance.

• Parking is free!

• They have some of the best barbeque around. Picnics and outside snacks are not permitted inside the water park. However, the park offers many and varied dining options for you and your family to try, starting with their mouth-watering Smoke House BBQ restaurant. Featuring brisket and pork smoked overnight and home-made sauce, the menu here is truly Texan. Other options in the park include American fare at The River Grill, pizza at Ray’s Pizzeria & Italian Icehouse, and Tex-Mex at the Taco Shack. Chill out with an “adult beverage” at the Circle T Bar while the kids grab an Icee or lemonade. And, don’t forget to stop by Texas Treats to satisfy your sweet tooth!

• Pack light. The park offers plenty of shaded lounge chairs and tables, so no need to bring your own chairs and umbrella. A covered pavilion is perfect for lunch or dinner with a large group. Lockers are available for rent and life jackets are included with your entry ticket, if needed. If you plan to spend the entire day, consider renting a cabana for a cozy place to relax and store your items.

• Be ready for some big time fun! The wave pool and lazy river are great for relaxing, but if you’re a thrill-seeker, look no further than the slides at The Duelin’ Daltons. With two slides that begin with the floor dropping out from under you, one that takes you through a loop, and another that drops you seven stories straight down, this place is a heart pumping adrenaline rush. The Lone Star Racers pit you against your friends in a splash race to the finish, and the Snake Pit will take you on lots of twists and turns as you zip through the tunnels. A family-friendly play scape features an 800 gallon water bucket dump every few minutes along with spray areas, slides and rope bridges. And new this year, a toddler splash pad has been added for even more fun for the tiny tots.

So pack your sunscreen, shades and a towel and head off to Typhoon Texas for some fun in the sun this summer!
