The Super Bowl is near the top of the list of “holidays” throughout the year that bring people together to enjoy great food. If you’re hosting a party for the game or attending one and need to bring something to share, here are a few great recipes that will please football fans of both the Patriots and Falcons.

The key to great Super Bowl party food is that it be bite sized. That way, party goers can sample a bit of everything and go back for more of their favorites. Plus, it’s easier to eat small bites in between cheering for your team, laughing at the commercials, and when you’re not at a dining table. Also, since the event can be more than four hours long, people can continuously graze throughout, giving them reasons to get up off the couch and mingle.

• Nothing says “football” more than hot wings, but put this twist on them and they’re less messy to eat. Try making a hot wing dip and serve with celery sticks, crackers or pita chips. Simply toss a block of cream cheese, 8 ounces of hot sauce, 8 ounces of blue cheese or ranch dressing, and three cups of shredded chicken into a crock pot and heat on high for 60 to 90 minutes, stirring occasionally.

• Grill up bite-sized cheeseburgers (think meatball size) and put a quarter of a piece of cheese on top while still warm so it will melt. Use a toothpick to garnish with a pickle and provide ketchup for dipping.

• You can’t go wrong with this flavorful Bacon Dip recipe: combine a cream cheese block with ½ cup mayo, 4 finely chopped green onions, 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, and 1 tsp thyme. Mix into a creamy spread then place in an oven-safe dish. Top with ½ sleeve crushed Ritz crackers and diced Oscar Meyer pre-cooked bacon. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Serve with table crackers or baguette. Bonus – make it vegetarian by leaving off the bacon.

• For dessert, try some Blonde Brownies. Melt 1/3 cup butter in a saucepan. Add 1 cup brown sugar and remove from heat. Add 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup flour, ½ tsp baking powder, 1/8 tsp baking soda and ½ tsp salt. Mix all together in same saucepan, then spread into greased 9×9 baking pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Now, enjoy the food and the game!
