It’s the week before Christmas and all through the house, there’s lots of stirring and clicking the computer mouse. Rein in your holiday scramble by getting organized this week to not only take the stress off but to enjoy the season, too!

Monday – The kids are still in school (until noon on Wednesday in Conroe ISD!) so take advantage of your last couple days. Finish up your shopping for the kids today and tomorrow so you won’t have to worry about them seeing items in your car or have to sneak away while they’re sleeping.

Tuesday – Start gift wrapping and don’t forget those teacher gifts! Put them in your child’s backpack tonight so you will remember tomorrow morning. Review your recipients list and highlight anything you still need to pick up.

Wednesday – Wrap, wrap, wrap! Then after the kids come home, enlist their help in wrapping the gifts they are giving. Plan your holiday meals and make the grocery list. Don’t forget items like disposable roasting pans or casserole dishes and make sure you have extra napkins.

Thursday – Hit up the grocery store and get everything you can, that way you can just run in on Saturday or even Sunday to grab anything last-minute. Change the sheets in your guest room if you’ll have company staying with you.

Friday – Finish gift wrapping, sort your stocking stuffers into labeled plastic bags for easy transfer, and vacuum the whole house. Clean the bathrooms and kitchen, too.

Saturday – Spend the morning doing any final preparations and then make time in the afternoon and evening for family activities. Go see the Zoo Lights, the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens, or snuggle up on the couch together and watch your favorite holiday movie – Miracle on 34th Street, Christmas Vacation, Elf, or Home Alone are all great choices.

Now that you’re ready, relax and enjoy the holiday. Remember, it is not about all the hustle and bustle, but about spending time with loved ones. Happy holidays!
