Looking for a last-minute booking for a Spring Break trip? It’s not too late to make plans to travel to neighboring cities or even an adventure beyond the state! So, pack your bags for some family fun!

Galveston offers a lot of options for beach and water play. Book a room at the Hotel Galvez, Holiday Inn Resort, or the Hilton. Want a “resort” experience? Try the San Luis Resort & Spa – its located right on the beach with easy access to the sand and surf, has a kids pool with waterslide and adult pool with swim-up bar. The hotel at Moody Gardens is conveniently located right next to the pyramids containing wildlife exhibits and the IMAX theater. You can also easily get to Schlitterbahn from here to enjoy both their indoor and outdoor water parks.

Run away to the Hill Country and take a climb up Enchanted Rock. The massive pink granite rock formation just outside of Austin has been a central attraction for hundreds of years. With 11 miles of hiking trails (sorry, no bikes) you’ll have plenty to explore. Hike up the Summit Trail to enjoy some of the most breathtaking views of the Hill Country around. (This trail is easy enough for youngsters and adults in sneakers.) Experienced rock climbers can bring their gear but must check in at the park headquarters. You can drive up for the day or book a site at the camp grounds. Other things to do in the area include visiting historic Fredericksburg and taking a tour of the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park.

If everyone has their passports and you’re up for a big adventure, the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas is one of the world’s absolute best family vacation spots. Their top-notch kids activities will keep your little ones entertained all week long with cooking classes, arts and crafts, dress-up theater, a Lego room, and organized group activities. Parents can relax under the beach umbrellas, play a round of golf or visit the spa. The whole family will enjoy the massive pool complex with waterslides galore, the dolphin encounter and stingray lagoon.

Does your family prefer the cold weather? It’s not too late to see some snow this season! Steamboat Springs, Colorado is one of the most family-friendly ski resorts and features daily childcare complete with indoor activities as well as ski school. Skiing classes for adults also meet daily and equipment rentals are available at the mountain’s base. Ample housing is available, from traditional hotels to condos if you like a “home” feel. The gondola will take riders to the top of the mountain, which rises to 10,568 feet above sea level. Skiers, snowboarders and snow bunnies will love the mountain’s restaurants and lodges. Travel the short distance to downtown to experience the hot springs pools and fine dining. Take a shuttle to the nearby tubing park or check out the off-trail terrain on snowmobiles.
